Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Mexico Deepwater Disappointment Mounts for Shell ….

i am sure the reshaped organization will turn this performance around ….. Given the wonderful track record of the people in charge i’d say it is a given …..

The previous GM of GOM spoke about the "in" and "out" crowd and did nothing to address the perception/reality. Instead he promoted it. No presence of fairness, there doesn't need to be. Do people really care anyway? Just get with the "in" crowd!

"When the GM for Mexico became GM for GoM after reshape, you know it’s pretty bad across the border"

You forgot to mention that the said GM's wife is now in his direct reporting chain with a highly compromised team lead sandwiched in between. Of course, as per the DEI age ethics & compliance there is absolutely no conflict of interest here whatsoever. They don't even have to pretend anymore that there is any kind of fairness enforced by the company even on the surface. Such are the times ...

This makes no sense. We should have expanded in the Permian and bought Diamondback, Devon, or Pioneer. Also why sell deer park? Send the Permian crude there. And open Groningen again. Why we shut it down?

Go explore the salt n Brazil. Maybe even do JV with rosneft and do some Arctic shnitz.

As someone who sat in the Mexico framing, the re-framing and the re-framing of the re-framing… this should come as no surprise to anyone… this was all predicted then, and no one listened. Yet, promotions for all involved. Viva Shell…

I wouldn’t worry too much. Exploration is making their own bed - they don’t have much time left with their horrific track record over the last decade or so. Virtually no frontier finds while competitors like EM are finding multi-billion barrel fields. And before someone says “Perdido”, no, we sat on that play for 15 years doing absolutely nothing before we lucked into Whale. Exploration is a joke

"Watley" and co. are all DEI premature promos who haven't contributed to the business. What could possibly go wrong?

Lets be fair, that massive GOM exploration department that are full of coffee drinking, feet on desks explorers need something to do for a few years!

I am sure with the folks there the good stuff will be found (by another company) once we pull out. It was a mistake to spend so much and be tied there for years. One bad decision after another. Reshape was the latest disaster.

To be fair, outside of Zama, DW Mexico has been a flop across industry. I understand the strategy of wanting to push the Perdido success across the border, but it’s clear that it’s not going to work out. Need to pull out of the venture asap like XOM and BP have already done. And don’t forget about the unstable and corrupt Mexican govt…
