Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Not more than a year

I had no illusions when I came here. I knew the workplace was more than bad. I came because I needed a job, but I gave myself a deadline that I wouldn't stay at UP for more than a year and that I would find something better. I don't think anyone comes here with the intention of staying much longer? Or perhaps someone does?

It used to be a career, but now it's just a job until you find a better one.

If you want to stay here longer you need to accept a longer hot dog

Leave if you are unhappy….it’s pretty simple. Nobody can force you to work anywhere. I don’t like UP either, but I don’t have a better option at this time.

Ok there's point in there that some have tried to make previously. People do go to the UP looking for work. They also know how bad it is, but really don't have many options for employment. Now some people will label others as the sc-m of society for accepting a job at the UP. Apparently those people have better options of a bigger city, then those that don't. If you went to work for the UP, then good for you. If you have no intentions of staying for more than a year, then that's your choice. All I can say is good luck to you, and be prepared for anything to happen.
