No matter what, I have some good memories from Staples because I worked with great people, learned a lot about the job and gained experience, and everything used to be a lot different.
It is clear to me that it is almost natural for every business to have a period of growth and a period of decline, but I wonder if the period of decline here could have been postponed, just if we had people with a different vision at the top?
Sorry to hear about the layoffs. As a former SPLS employee who lived through the SP transition, I can say you'll be pretty amazed when you finally find a company that treats you with respect and empathy. They exist. Now is a GREAT time to be looking too. But I know it can be tough to let go of the past.
It’s all about the numbers and therefore at companies like that, as much as they talk about quality culture it will always be about laying off workers as opposed to cutting any fat at the top.

Sycamore is getting ready to do have Essendant do a huge layoff in the first week of December. Mostly Sales and Sales Management. They are also cutting out their Runzheimer all together.
And if people at the top did not lay off the good, talented and dedicated employees. Just threw knowledge and experience out the door just to meet their numbers. Not a good company in my eyes!
It could have been different if the people at the top did not keep shifting the puzzle pieces to different roles only to deliver the same, miserable results.
