Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Customers have changed

I never considered Macy's a classless customer kind of store until the last couple of years. We're starting to share our customer base with Walmart, and if that's not a scary thought, I don't know what is. I don't even want to start on the things I find in the changing rooms these days, it would turn your stomach - even if I suspect that the majority of you have been facing the same issues. This is certainly not the Macy's of old.

We keep getting destroyed on our surveys because we don't have any of the brands people used to buy at our store. We lost Polo, Free People, Hilfiger, and even Kitchen Aid which is surprising given all of the home goods we been getting in. It doesn't look like we will be getting a quarterly bonus even though the company is doing great. Typical, stock goes up and higher up make big bonuses by setting up us hourly people to get nothing.

With all the threats of closings and more cuts I'm glad my store has customers at all. Granted the quality of the items have changed and so have our customers, but the money is still green and that's all the higher ups look at anymore.

Well said to the last comment! That’s pretty much sums it up!

The customers have changed but this is due to the fact that Jeff Gannett has turned Macy’s into a low end retailer.

Better customers know not to bother shopping there because they know they will only find an assortment comparable to WalMart.

Very little brand name or designer merchandise is available at Macy’s anymore.
What you find is poor quality, unbranded, low end merchandise. Your home store assortment is embarrassing! Your stores are filthy. Dirty smelly restrooms, dirty floors, heaps of merchandise tossed in the fitting rooms, at the register and on the floor. No help whatsoever. An American icon brand that is in ruin.
Yes the customers are trashy but that is because Macy’s has become trashy.

How about the crazy old people who shop at our store and keep asking why everything doesn't have a price like this is 1970. Why do we buy all so much home stuff that isn't priced and expect our two signing people to actually sign every single item? It's crazy.

Not surprising consider they have merchandise that’s low in quality. Cheap products and no service, not a good place to shop anymore.
