Here is the thing now!
Have been reading and hearing all this all over the place.
They are not adding any more directors but CSX. And you all would know why. Because In pilot stores they are testing how they would do without OVM and integrating support and sales floor team where CSX managers will do signing, markdowns and put out stock.
Company says it going well but need some adjustments in it.
OVM’s will not be cut as every other year we see different titles. So there will be another title which would be more of CSM manager.
Customer service and merchandise manager. Something like that.
Company cannot afford to have cuts at this point. A lot of stores are without any help this 2021 Christmas. They would not cut a single person but they change title or give OVM the new “CSXM” role. Where all the managers will be of same level. And whoever is on duty manager will take care of signing, markdowns and merchandise.
Now some store managers do have a talk into this. They can split the managers responsibilities. Where few managers will be only coming in early do support function and when store opens they do floor stuff.
It will be tight, stressful and more work.
That’s what it is.. from what I have heard. I could be wrong but the company can’t afford anymore cuts until unless regional cuts they make more money.

Its a concept that worked for many years at May company.. or course the difference is there were many more of them per store.
And of course the people who drove execution, visual, is gone.
You nailed it. This would also keep severance payments down or not offer any, if they offer you a comparable job and you decline; you don't get severance.
It's all in the semantics... Same person, different title and more duties. More oohs and ahhs for the share holders i suppose. It's all creating a ripple effect to create an all in one "CSXM" role as the previous poster mentioned. Experienced MTMs who were not promoted to the OVM position have already been inserted into the CSX role. They know how to merchandise, sign, markdown, damage out, and display on the day to day. In turn, the unfamiliar incumbent CSXs have learned to try and keep pace as well; overall merging and strengthening the sales floor management team.
