Thread regarding Sungard Availability Services layoffs

BRUTAL LAYOFFS today

Sooooo many Sungard folks. We've had big cuts before, but the company was so lean, this one cut way to deep.
This BU idea, left orgs empty. All of NA work now down to groups of 4, all of UK to be cut in half...i can't even speak.
No town hall meeting yet, no idea how this will work, no idea how people will get paid on the sales side, or organized on the ops side. The masters have been revealed though, and tomorrow will be a very hard day.
Happy thanksgiving in the UK, Merry Christmas everywhere else. SMH

Pretty pathetic how the company continues to do layoffs and don't give raises yet leadership doesn't take paycuts when times get bad...

Senior management got hit this time. They'll still have their vacation time and sick time to boot. Wait for the annual Christmas or after New Years rif for all the rest. No accrued vacation or sick time!

I saw a post on LinkedIn by a long-timer yesterday that had me shaking my head.
I can't believe the number of S-tier people who get canned in every layoff, and the F-tier ones that keep skating by, somehow, in spite of how bad they really are.
You're doing great SGAS. It won't be long now!

This reorg proves that the 2021 reorg failed. Senior management is responsible not the folks who were laid off. Again they were not held accountable. This reorg will fail too because the morale of the company is gone. The org will be managed down to zero

@kwn

That would imply HG experiences feelings at all, and frankly I don't believe that's possible. Still trying to figure out his meteoric/mysterious rise to the top.

On the bright side, less sales drones to make empty promises for others to make deliverable ain't all bad.

“Good riddance AD and SH.”

I take it these two were ousted? Good riddance indeed.

Nostradumbass here...... big smile. The four thousandth time just happened. I actually feel for all that were affected as it is not easy getting laid-off. I know from my own past. Who I do not feel sorry for is everyone that did not see this coming. How could you not see it coming? How do you folks who called me Nostradumbass feel now?

GSE disbanded with around 30% losing their jobs.

EMEA appears to have lost around 40% of its sales staff.

Sad day for this company. Dead in the water!

UK labor laws differ from the US. They have to be given notice, which probably occurred today.

I heard the layoffs were extensive and across all business areas, including management. The cuts were very deep and have left people quite shaken. The survivor's guilt will set in for the remaining tomorrow.

“This BU idea, left orgs empty.”
What BU? And what are these orgs that are now empty?

“all of UK to be cut in half”
So this big layoff hasn’t happened yet in the UK?

If “this one cut way [too] deep” and “All of NA work now down to groups of 4,” then were a lot of managers, directors, also whacked?

Since this one cut even more deep, leading to even more sparse employees, any news on what will happen to the remaining Sungard locations?

Can you be more clear. What exactly was the cut? Just sales?
