Is it possible to defer severance pay check acceptance until next year?

It goes by the effective date so you can’t defer without trying to renegotiate.
What’s the current severance package?
I’m not a lawyer or tax accountant, but my reading of the docs is that you have 45 days to sign, and they’ll pay out 7 days after that.
45 days from now is Dec 30, so if you don’t sign until then, or a couple of days earlier, you won’t get your check until Jan.
