Andeavor won

It occurred to me today that although we (MPC) thought we took over Andeavor and were the dominate company, in the end, Andeavor won.

the massive paydays the Andeavor talent made when MPC severed them.
MPC has shutdown/sold many of the Andeavor refineries, despite paying huge premium on these plants in the acquisition
The good people all left, the bottom of the barrel stayed behind
integration was /is a total disaster across all areas (culture, systems, process)
zero synergy creation (likely negative)

Can anyone name one good thing that came out of the acquisition?

Those who wanted out or wanted to retire won big time - very nice TAP package.

Andeavor and their people lost big time! Great entrepreneurial company that was on the rise, expanding in all directions gets taken over by a company full of good ole boys and clock watchers.

Most of things that made Andeavor great have been snuffed out by Marathon's outdated mentality and management style.

Gary’s Johnson size won having created a 1 billion bbl per year corporation. It’s sooooo huge.

Piles of money aside, I wouldn’t say that Gary is a winner.

Greg Goff is the only real winner here.

I don’t think anyone won. We’re all paying the price of poor management and bad decisions.

As a former Andeavor employee i cant think of any. Working here has been borderline miserable since the day MPC bought us.
