Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Shell Post Mis-shape

Face it. Post Mis-shape, Shell is a botched ab-----n. People are demoralized. Too much work, too few hands. The wrong people put in charge for the wrong reasons. Somewhere there is a plan on someone's desk where your job is eliminated. The job market is hot now but people are waiting for bonuses. After that there will be a mass exodus from Shell of the people worth anything and not tied to some 80 point benefits plan. It will be like the water rushing out at low tide. Shell will be left with the expensive old timers they don't want and don't respect. And the inexperienced DEI millennials they love to run things. Like Buffet says, when the tide goes out you can see who's skinny dipping. Will Shell replace fill their needs with experience and skills, or with quotas? Or not at all? There won't be layoffs in 2022 because they won't have to or can't.
Management thinks good SPS numbers mean good morale. Is that what you see, is that how you feel? The witch hunts in past years sent a clear message on how you are expected to respond. The honest ones are gone.
People, process, product. The process will replace the people. The product will be low cost low profit renewables that won't need handlers. The work load can only go down. But the headcount will go down faster. If you are any good at your job you will be struggling to work for the beautiful people in management. But if you are good at your job you have alternatives. If you have any self respect you will consider them.

I agree with the OP with 1 exception. There WILL be a ROF in 2022. I’m hearing and seeing that will happen again. Many business functions have plans in motion on ramp down and/or moving in operations in 2022. Read all the press releases from the beginning of this whole Reshape process. “The Anglo-Dutch company said it expected to cut 7,000 to 9,000 jobs by the end of 2022, including some 1,500 people who have agreed to take voluntary redundancy this year.” source CNBC.

Agree everything OP said, except no layoff in 2022. Don’t forget Reshape is not over. Plenty of us are still in JG99 until the end of 2022. At this point, I’m just waiting on my package so I can gtfo

OP, very well said. Many at Deer Park are already checked out. I assume they have alternative plans lined up.

You are absolutely correct and Shell does not see the self destruction mode they have created. I see this coming at a very fast pace.

My team’s SPS results were rock bottom on everything related to senior leadership and company direction/reputation. Not that it matters of course. Management will distract by focusing on DEI and learner mindset scores
