If the economy turns around, do you anticipate any Kroger layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

The economy is great right now - companies are begging for help - good time to abandon this titanic and captain Rod.
Mid-Atlantic is laying off all store administrative assistants effective March 1st. With the hiring issues they continue to have this has got to be the worst move they’ve made in a very long time.
Kroger are masters at making external conditions work for them. For example, the current worker shortage. They have discovered that, A) People will keep coming in/using the clicklist service even though some of the shelves are empty. People will stand in a cue to get through the self serve checkout thus negating the need for more checkout people. And, B) They can still find enough sh-t to put on the shelves to keep enough people coming through the doors to actually increase profits, largely by riding the remaining staff to do more with less and less and less.
If all of a sudden the nationwide worker shortage ended tomorrow, you will see very little improvement in staff levels.
Welcome to the brave new world.
No, because right now they don't have enough associates in the stores. What will happen is hours will get cut and stay at a lower standard than compared to the trend of sales.
