Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Black Friday

Is anyone else scheduled from 8am to 8pm on Black Friday 🥴

That would put me at 40 hours exactly around 1pm but I’m also scheduled a 9 hour shift on Saturday. I’m not complaining or anything, just genuinely curious if Verizon is legally allowed to force me to work overtime.

Cheers mates 🍻

It’s called holiday pay. Y’all get paid 16 hours extra this week in retail.

considering my compensation for October was nuked by id--tic surveys while maxing out sales performance, i plan on working bell to bell but spending the majority of my time sleeping in the back of the store. thanks to California's pro-employee labor laws that OT for that day is going to be worth more than my meager commissions check.

We are open from 8am-9pm that day. I will not be calling out because my 2 weeks notice will be submitted tomorrow morning. The irony of having Thanksgiving on my last day

Black Friday week everyone has 3 scheduled days off but everyone is working on that Friday and Saturday. Why I don’t know. We won’t have much to sell and some defill orders are hitting December 30th now. If anyone remembers 2020 Black Friday weekend was uneventful even with a much better stock position. This year will be much worse...but hey we can answer all those tech email and Facebook questions all day long.

Yes, an employer can make you work overtime.

We have normal hours, and no Verizon cannot force you to do overtime. Call HR.
