Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Working without former colleagues is difficult

It's getting harder to work here. The company expects us to finish everything as if we were not left without many colleagues. Somehow we manage to cover the extra work caused by the lack of people, but it can't go on like that for very long.
It's a real MIRACLE how we manage to function at all without so many people who have resigned, and without the help of those who haven’t put in any effort for a long time because they plan to leave soon?

It's been nearly two years since a RIF with a key leader was axed in my dept. My teamates always lamentsl the loss of their mentor's contributions to the company and personal development. Hasn't been the same since.

Seeing colleagues leave either due to a RIF or voluntary resignation sometimes feels like a death in the family, especially if you worked with them for many years.
