Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

First GE. Then Shell?

Management have no original ideas, so let's do what other ex-icons in a nosedive are doing! And if it makes the Shell Game even more confusing, even better!

Rather than breaking the company into easy bitesize chunks, let's do it all in one swoop!

Ben, hurry, wake the kids and ask them if it's the right thing to do! They probably have more business sense than you! Or at least don't have their heads up their as--s.

I’m a retired SOC employee. I recall being in a meeting in London attended by Brit managers; I was the only American.
The discussion concerned staff planning and development needs for RDS subsidiary nationals in European countries. One senior Brit manager was of the strong opinion “we” didn’t have an obligation to develop local staff for larger roles outside their countries. In his view, they were “indigenous workers”. Guess he’d forgotten I was an “indigenous “ SOC secondee.
This experience along with other first-hand interactions led me to conclude that unless you’re a Brit or Dutch in RDS, don’t expect your views, opinions or expectations are ever on an equal footing with theirs.
And despite Canada’s historical ties, Canadiens aren’t British enough to count either.

Please liberate Shell CANADA!!!
We were invaded by RDS about 10 years ago. Since then RDS has turned a once proud company and industry leader into a sad bottom feeder with no imagination. They have closed refineries, sold profitable lines of business and outsourced many administrative jobs to the third world.
RDS = SATIN
