Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

PTO?

I am one of those that was laid off and came back one year ago. Was told I have no Pto only sick pay. Anybody else experiencing this? Sick pay is absolutely not the same as PTO.

Is sick pay offered only in certain states? We don’t have sick pay in our area.

The amount of sick-safe pay you receive at start is excessive. These days are pretty much free PTO given to you by the government and can be used for ANYTHING. So yes you have pto technically and no why would a company you left hand you back pto? Also if you plan on leaving a job using up all your current Pto is the play. Business 101, I’m sorry this question is similar In stupidly as the 401k question up top.

Call HR Services at 800-234-6229 and they can explain PTO vs. Safe/Sick Time

You came back as a new employee and have to earn your PTO. You get PTO after one year of working there. They don’t count your previous years working with the company so it’s not continuous. You basically start all over again. And you accumulate sick pay after I believe 3 months of working.
