Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Abby: We had a record quarter! Now get your butts back to the office!

Are all the old billionaires colluding to get their workforces back to the office to support their real estate empire and the local city tax authorities? What the actual f---k? Or is it just their ego?

Are we not being forced to go back in January at this point? I know they said 30 days notice and it sounds like we would get more notice that that. Seems like they would have told us by now, unless there’s an announcement right after Thanksgiving for something like a mid January return. If not January, I feel like it could be months more or never required to return. COVID isn’t going away, waiting for everyone to get a booster will take a while and some of the issues like child care shortages won’t magically get resolved in January 1st. Even a memo telling us January is off the table, but February is a possibility would be helpful from a planning perspective.

The company just completely pulled the Abby video for back to the office, but more importantly the employee comments as well, which read like a /subreddit. What's wrong, can't take some realistic feedback from your employees???

With the millions Fidelity invested in corporate campuses of course they would be eager to get everyone back in the office. What they do not realize is that employees have actually increased productivity working from home. With no commute times, that extra bandwidth has gone directly into more work being done. Also not have the distractions at work, being able to multi tasking during zoom meetings, impossible to do sitting in a physical meeting room. So much time is wasted in the office compared to working from home.

Fidelity upper management is pushing to bring us back in the office because they fear for their jobs. We don’t need an overpaid manager to keep an eye on what we are doing, we let our work speak for itself. We need doers not babysitters and time keepers.

If Fidelity wants to compete with RobinHood and the likes then they need to realize that work from home is here to stay. It’s been proven with today’s technology that there is no reason to commute to an office. The future is flexibility to work from anywhere and be mobile. Fidelity needs to step into the future of work or fall behind. The office is dead!!

Florida corporate tax breaks cause Abby and other corporate leaders to cow tail to "Trump wanna be" and future US dictator. I'm not sure how one would sleep with themselves at night after cozying up to a sl--e ball like DeSantis.
