Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Promotion rat race

I worked very hard to hopefully get a promotion, but it didn’t happen in the expected time. Obviously hard work is not enough?
I'm interested in how hard it was for others to get a promotion here, what other people's experiences are like.

Left for a promo because it was not in the budget. Funny in that I was offered a promo when leaving. Funny it how it was in the budget then.

Lot of opportunities at Apple, Amazon, Dexcom, and others. Manage your career or find a sponsor at QC to a promotion.

You should never let an employer dictate your worth! Map out your career and use your current position to get you a promotion at a new job! If you have to bounce to get promoted do so! We no longer live in an age where you get hired and stay in one place until retirement. Qualcomm will fire you in a heart beat when they no longer need to… so fire Qualcomm and get your promotion some where else!

It’s actually easier to leave Qualcomm for another company than wait for a promotion. That’s what I did. Besides Qualcomm is toxic. I’ve been so much better off since I left that he-l ho-e.

Same same. Especially in this kind of toxic environments, feel frustrated and stupid looks like something other than hard working is more elemental in QCA

I've just done what comes natural.
Wasn't even hard.

The same here. If you work average, you get X money, if you work hard, you get X. If you really have connection then you get promotion.

I am also puzzled. I thought I almost got 5 this year, but I did not get 5. So sucks.
