Keep the Faith, buddy. We'll get them closed soon. On a positive note, we get a whole bunch of tasty, bash-outs this coming Weekend. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think just about everything on SB360's list, save for Grass Valley, Bronx, & Nanjanito (however it's spelled), will be closing this Sun., Nov. 14! And those above mentioned 3, will be closing, I think, on Dec. 19. So we're getting some delicious bash-outs soon, this Year. Keep the Faith. We'll get some more, also, in 2022. Always hold out hope!!

@3wzx+1dGIjhLK I hope you're right, buddy. I sincerely hope you're right. What's worrisome, though, is that the listing makes no mention of "store closing". Hopefully soon though, fingers crossed!

maybe the remodeling is for the next tenant

I see that went completely over your head. Good luck on your invite to the next party.

To the poster below, that "Airport" analogy you made below, doesn't work. It's supposed to be "this isn't the Airport. No need to announce your departure". That works, because Airplanes' departures, are announced in an Airport. Your analogy doesn't work, because "Morning routines" are not typically announced in Airports.

If you're going to try to be droll, and use a cute analogy, at least Check if it works first, LOL.

Regardless, it may be condensing, but why are they hiring NEW employees specifically for this so-called remodel? I Know what they're doing. They're going to condense everything probably into half the Apace, & lease out the other half to another tennant. Step in the right direction, yes.
But it's still not as good as a total & complete closure. Hopefully 1 Day soon, though.

This isn't the airport. You do not need to announce your morning routine. You are reading too far into this. Condensing isn't really a remodel, at least not in the way one would think.

@jgc+1dGIjhLK Agreed. Very disappointing development, indeed. Every Day, when I Wake up, first thing I do before I even jump in the shower or brush my teeth, is run to the computer and look for Sears/Kmart closing jobs, hoping, that maybe, just maybe, some more locations will close.

Then I see a remodel????? 🤬😡🤢 Why, Ed, why? Why are you rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic? The ship is sinking, what's the point? What really makes me want to bang my head against a wall, is the fact, that if they indeed DO this "silly remodel", that means this store probably will not be closing next Year. And I was hoping, begging even, that all the remaining locations would close very early in 2022, if not 2021. But this garbage just keeps dragging on. I was 99.9% sure that Miami Kmart would close soon, because of it's proximity to Target that you mentioned. And they just dashed my hopes and dreams, of this potential, tasty, delicious closing, but posting a remodel! WTF, man?

Kmart/Sears is like that football team down 200-0 in the 4th Quarter. Now he wants to bring in a new field-goal kicker, to try and make it 200-3. WHO FKING CARES? You're still down 2000 + stores!!!!! A remodel? Are you fking kidding me? Shut the stuff down YESTERDAY and move on. You're Ki----g me with this slow closing nonsense. ENOUGH!!!!!!! (To be clear, I am being 100% unironic here). Rant over.

P.S.: I think you meant everyone "else", not "ele". But excellent post though! I totally agree with you, and your analogies about obsolete equipment are spot on. They are polishing a tu-d, or rearranging chairs on a sinking ship. Nothing will change that. Please Ed, I'm begging you, change your mind, and close this store. Don't remodel it. Please man.

Is there rhyme or reason as to which threads and posts get to stand and which get deleted? It seems a bit arbitrary at times, often tossing the baby out with the bathwater and whatnot.

For giggles, I filtered the site to show all Kmart jobs. There are a total of 38:

https://jobs.sears.com/en-US/search?facetcompany=kmart

However, of those 38, a total of 22 are in the various USVI stores, and 4 are in Guam

So that leaves only 12 in the mainland U.S., 3 are in the closing Grass Valley store. So there are only 9 (yes, count 'em, NINE) Kmart job openings for non-closing stores in the continental U.S..

There must be something in the Water in USVI. Everything there turns to gold! I need to visit that magical place where there is so much magic dust that everything that touches it becomes golden. Bring on the tutus!

Side note, they have 2 "liquidation" jobs listed for Pasadena and Brooklyn Sears. LMAO, even if they quickly get someone to start working Tomorrow, they would only have 1 Week, as both close on November 14, hahaha:

Very disappointing. As a closing wnthusiast, it is annoyng to see a store being remodeled. If they are investing resources to "remodel" a store, it likely isn't closing soon. What a waste of a potential store to close! I was hoping this listing would imply a closing, but it clearly doesn't.

What a silly move anyway. Ya, while everyone ele has moved on to computers and DVD's, let's "remodel" our typewriters, and VCR's. What's disheartening about this, is that Miami Kmart was a prime candidate (I thought) for closing, being that it was near a Wally/Targy. What a waste of a "bases loaded-nobody out, fastball right over the plate" situation. This store should be closed EVERY DAY, TWICE ON SUNDAYS, and they took that potential home run ball and hit into a double play. BOO!!!!!

The idea is to close these stores, not remodel them. It's like we take 1 step forward, 2 steps back. CLOSE THE STORES EDWARD, DO NOT REMODEL THEM!!!!! Stop remodeling your 8 track player. CLOSE IT AND MOVE ON!

What a damn shame! Wasted opportunity

"condensing"

That whole company is weird. They're still hiring for the holidays at Grass Valley on their website, and the store is going out of business soon. All part of the train crash I suppose.

That is odd indeed. Why would the Miami Kmart need help rearranging the inside of the store? Couldn’t they just do that with existing personnel? And not only that, the position is just a temporary one, and really how much longer will that store remain open?. Strange…
