At this point I do wonder how many of us would take a voluntary layoff.

I have experience with failing companies and I can say for fact that the longer you stay the less you get.
In the current market where there is a shortage of workers I would take whatever they offer.
I got laid off in 2009; they paid 1 month per year worked. it was nice since I got a new job in 4 days. I came back in 2012 and left right after the 2015 layoff; didn't like what they did with my team. came back in 2018 and here I am. btw in 2015 they paid 1/2 month per year. wouldn't be so bad...
I think that depends greatly on the package that would be offered.
