Leaving on Jan 3rd - entitled to 2022's full vacation payout?

hey all, i'm planning on leaving my role at the end of this year (DPK bought out by Pemex), but trying to optimize my 'cash rebate' if you will.

if i were to stay until Jan 3rd, would i be entitled to the full 2 weeks of 2022 vacation?? would this only work if i put my 2 weeks on or after Jan 3rd, or can i also put in my 2 weeks in mid Dec so that Jan 3rd is my last true day?

thanks

"If you want to your bonus, if there is one. You have to be employed on the date they pay it out. Usually at the end of February, so if you are gone before then, you will not receive said bonus."

Divested Deer Park employees are guaranteed a prorated bonus (11 months) upon date of close, Dec. 1. No need to wait to February for it. If you quit before the date of close, you get the ho-e in the donut...nothing.

Moreover, Pemex stepped up and will pay that final month of bonus. Best way to optimize if you want to leave is to wait until you get that deposit from Pemex.

Now, if you think any company is going to pay you for the whole year's complement of your vacation in January, best of luck. If you find a company that does that, report back and let me know. I want to work for them!

They prorate you. You would have to actually use your vacation before quiting to get your "cash rebate". But like another user said below, they will take what they can out of your last paycheck. Use vacation then call off because of close contact with covid 19. Fu-k Shell

Lol, you’re dreaming if you think you’ll get paid out for a full year of vacation entitlement if your last day is Jan. 3rd… :D

For 2022 you will get prorated for 3 /365 * 80= 0.65 hours worth of vacation. However whatever you roll over from 2021 into 2022 will be added to your payout.

Technically you'll only get paid out for 2021 vacation. Your entitlement is based on you working full time hours to earn those vacation hours. Correct me if I'm wrong, Most companies will give you the full allotments at the beginning of the year with the expectation that as you work thru the calendar year you earn back the vacation time. This way employees don't have to work a full year before being able to take time off. Many employees get burned by burning thru their vacation hours before "earning" them and the company claws it back on their last pay check.
