Full of saudi employees and very few expats. Even if you come here to work, a westerner will be the minority. Going to the malls, you won't see any Caucasians anymore....mostly southeast asians. Your family will feel lonely. More westerners are leaving saudi so if you are an introvert and like staying at home inside all day then great. Otherwise, good luck.

They love to employ brilliant experienced expats in order to pick their brains clean of technology and workflows (one way knowledge transfers). But as for the multitudes of rank and file supporting minions, they have got ALL that they can use...full up, getting more yearly from locals coming home from university. A constant never ending supply. They call them PDP's,
As a Westerner ex-employee, it's a place where your career development comes to a death. You used to make good money, but there are rumors that good salaries are not the norm anymore. It's a place where WASTA primes and sadly safety of the employees is not a primary concern.

My love for this Company is very strong. When I retired, I put up a large cement figurine of a camel 🐫 in my front yard. I hang the Saudi flag on all major US holidays. Allah had blessed me when I had the opportunity to serve such a progressive Company and Country.

You have to pay top dollar instead of having the company completely run by locals because you simply can't find enough talent. Besides, coming to Saudi Arabia is not exactly something very enticing, so money has to be shelled out to make people come here and endure the hardship.
Wasta and egos are more important to you than the bottom line.
Ask Venezuelans working there (some very talented and hard working) how many expats they had working in PDVSA.
Fact: both companies were nationalized more or less in the same timeframe.
Not saying there aren't any capable Saudis. Just that the vast majority are mediocre at best and corrupted by a very toxic culture. Now that you are recruiting new people for substantially less after the big layoff, guess what? You'll get what you pay for.

Aramco forgot why they HAD to offer Western Expats handsome compensation packages. (Because nobody wants to come to the armpit of he-l!) Even Saudi's run to other countries for their vacation, education and retirement. Now that Aramco has lowered the packages, they can't recruite in the West. Aramco ends up with Pa-i, Indian, Eastern European and Venezuelan manual labors claiming to be educated....and are desperate to leave their own country. You get what you pay for! Aramco ends up hiring 3 lessor employees to replace one Western expat. Funny stuff!!!
…a company where thanks to the handsome compensation packages, western employees believe their market value is far greater than it is. As a result. they develop inflated egos and unfounded perceptions of their worth. When laid off, said expats can’t accept reality and spend their days making threads like these.
