Does anyone know if UHC, Optum fights unemployment? If someone were to quit, would they still be able to collect unemployment benefits?

As former management, 9 out of 10 times they fight it. Doesn't always mean they win though.

Nothing will change till the American boomer generation retires.
It's becoming clear to us that nothing will change until the boomer generation retires etc... (they obviously don't want to retire is one of the problems-work addictions, greed, or unfortunately, they really have to work and in that case, it's sad). We work with leadership with a much older/geriatric employee base and they are so brainwashed its flabbergasting. They really love their corporations and believe all the corporate lies, myths, brainwashing, propaganda, etc...

We brought up the discussion of a 4 day work week to our colleagues yesterday and every single boomer one of them was against it. One elderly woman mentioned she would not be interested in doing that because she wouldn't want to work longer hours on those 4 days . We told her no, that's not the point of a 4 day work week, it's the same 8 hour shift in a day, you just work one less day.

Oh no, another colleague proclaimed, I wouldn't want to be paid less for working one less day a week. Again, explaining to them, no, you still get paid the same, in fact we should be fighting for a yearly increase to combat inflation.... Blank stares across the room, glazed eyes etc....Please retire boomers, it's embarrassing, you're out of touch. Work is NOT your life. You work to live, not the other way around Americans.

We explained that we each knew one-another's roles and it would be easy to implement as each one of us would just take a different day off and we could easily cover for the other person.

"No i don't want to do that" was the sentiment of everybody in the room.

I was honestly speechless, more free time for the same wage was not interesting to them at all, they are so brainwashed for their corporate love, their wage slavery, greed, and set in their ways that any change, even good, scares the fe--s out of them.

Do not resign. Just get fired for a non "policy reason"

HR is unable to give out bad references to your new employer, and simply states that you were here for the time period you claim you were employed.

I have not heard of a single UI claim or Cobra being denied of the 5-6 people terminated or quitting in the past year. No matter always apply. They usually have a deadline for denial.

They fight everything! Look up OptumRx and UHG lawsuits. They will not pay unemployment that is why they rarely have massive layoffs to avoid (WARN ACT) they let people go in waves.

They will fight UI because they're taxes for UI go up each time someone collects. So the company will likely fight. As an American, youre screwed.

Your likely gonna have to leave because the stress and injustice is so wrong. Agree, they will fight denture and nail to prevent you getting whats rightfully yours.

This was our situation:

Boss girlie: "I want you to do the work of two people"
Us: "That's cool, I need to be paid the wage of two people"
Boss girlie: "We can't do that at this time"
Us: "We can't do that at this time

then they laid us off, and we had to fight to collect bc the corporation fought. We have no worker rights.
