Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

Career paths

It is sometimes not clear to me here whether I am moving forward or backward. In fact, many are unclear about how to develop and progress within the organization here. Then it is not surprising that most employees are less and less engaged when they do not have clear career paths/ logical career progressions. Hoping that their employee development will ever be among their priorities is in vain. Simply, this is no longer a place where someone can build a career?

Let me guess, you want to be a leader?
Politics will get you there, nothing else matters.

Call your HR rep, they'll have some classes and can fix that.

"Man, instead of worrying about the future, just focus on tomorrow."

In reality, your future IS what tomorrow brings", and IF you survive tomorrow, the cycle of worry (focus) begins once again as to going to happen when you show up the next day.

Management delights in keeping the peeons in a constant state of stress (worry)

Honestly, to me it's two things I see again and again:

  1. ) Politics is really important
  2. ) People in sales and marketing are the ones that get promoted.

Which I don't think is much different from any other big company in general
