Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

Help me understand this

Hy-Vee acts like it's hurting for workers....Randy Edeker encouraging employees to get their friends/loved ones to apply for jobs, the "Now Hiring Helpful Smiles" flags all over the parking lots and inside the stores, etc. but now, our store director is going from department to department bringing down the ax on hours. We're barely getting by as is and now he wants to cut hours...AND hire new employees? It's not like existing employees are making big bucks, for most, pay is now at Hy-Vee's new starting wage and getting no more than part time hours.

What gives with this? Is it self-sabotage? Our store is already making bonus so not quite sure of the rationale.

I gave it everything I had. It was never going to be good enough. This company is so different than the one I joined in the 80’s, it’s unbearable. For all you young kids out there thinking this will get better anytime soon, think again. I quit 5 years before my target retirement, what does that tell you!!!?

Lol. Hy Vee wants to run the show with part timers. Corporate clods and their sheeple Directors are desperate to destroy any sense of FT store employee personal ownership still left on table. In other words, the founding principles of a once-great company are blowing in the wind, or should I say, sinking with the burnt-out ship.

It's important for our corporate leaders to know that we the workers are more empowered than ever before. Corporate no longer holds all the cards. Although we are non-union, we as some might refer to as "rank and file" seem to be on the same page company wide. That is to say other opportunities exist. If we are mistreated, underpaid, expected to do the job of 2 or 3 people as many of us are, or our work/life balance is not recognized, we could find someplace else to work and walk without much effort. Corporate needs to adjust thier thinking to OUR needs and expectations as workers today. Not the other way around. RE, don't even think about pulling that same stunt you pulled about a year and a half ago. The backlash both from us, the associates, and the public will be much more painful for the company.
