Sounds like a small batch this time; Lakeforest confirmed, possibly Baldwin Hills, Fort Collins and Windward as well

How about waiting for a press release, instead of replying to a post from 2021 with stores that probably are no longer on the list?

Shrinkage or theft has been increasing for many retailers so it isn’t surprising to see this move. The amount of stores is larger than expected, but consistent with changes in customer behavior that has seen Kohl’s, Bed, Bath and Beyond, and others closing stores. Feel bad for employees impacted by these changes.

I wonder how they choose which stores to close. It can’t just be about profitability I’d think. There are multiple stores on this list here that I genuinely like. Granted they could use a little elbow grease but some here are pretty busy still.

Hm. Someone here said “after inventory”.
That’s wrong.
I was at a neighborhood store. We were all set for inventory. Had done all the work- cleaned out all the stockrooms, cash wraps and receiving dock, made all the maps for every dept., every floor, put in all the extra hours this always requires… and just three days before inventory was scheduled, we were told we were closing and inventory was no longer required since we would instead be entering into liquidation.
That was January of 2021. We closed at the end of March.
Good luck to the rest of the stores on the list.

These are “neighborhood” stores. YES Macy’s is closing a good portion of these. NO it doesn’t mean it won’t survive or later transform…AND it doesn’t mean other regular stores aren’t in danger either. It’s just a blueprint as to which stores are smaller and COULD close within the next year or two.

So are these Macy's stores closing or might be closing in January. Is it a rumor or the truth? Thanks.

The stores listed on here that are in my location, are the ones people expect to go.

This is not accurate. Livingston NJ is expanding to be a fulfillment store. As much as this mall sucks and should close Livingston will remain open. This store has an insane amount of back room storage.

One of these sites in NJ is expanding their fulfillment area so was surprised at that one. This list appears to be longer than the original one I saw would like to see the source of this list also.

So I was informed by my store manager (We both said we “thought” we saw the writing on the wall) that we aren’t on the list as a neighborhood store to be closed after inventory. Actually we’re doing pretty good… imagine THAT even after shoplifter’s pretty much steal the mother load of our inventory!

COVID changed everything. These stores aren't even referred to as Neighborhood stores any longer. Nothing is certain.

This is just an update of the remaining neighborhood doors so there are no surprises in January. Many already closed in 2020 and 2021.

This is old news. When the neighborhood stores were announced, we were all told at that time that all neighborhood stores would be closing over the next 3 years. 1rst batch was last year!
