Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Manufacturing is an afterthought

Everyone keeps making the mistake that GE is a manufacturing company.

It's not, it's a finance and services company. Bulk of profit comes from financing and services, that's the bottom line.

So they focus there and actual supply chains and manufacturing is an afterthought.

LC is a smart guy. Big picture-debt is a prior. Manufacturing/Supply chains will be dealt with in due time.

Howdy, I'm the guy that originally posted that statement.

For proof, see Culp's latest message touting the importance of the GECAS/AerCap deal.

More short-term profit driven thinking. Investment in manufacturing capabilities for future readiness? Nope! Debt paydown and stockholder "value".
