Thread regarding Raytheon Co. layoffs

New Job titles and levels

is the job titles and levels at raytheon as below or did it change recently?

G01-G05 are so-called “para professionals”, meaning jobs that don’t require a 4-year degree, but which are treated as salary positions

G06 is an entry level engineer (Engineer I)

G07 is a Jr. experience engineer (Engineer II)

G08 is a Sr. Engineer I

G09 is a Sr. Engineer II or Manager I

G10 is a Principal Engineer or Manager II

G11 is a Sr. Principal Engineer or Manager III

This is actually SOP. When Raytheon took over Hughes they did the same exact thing. True fun fact: They would stitch over Raytheon logos over Hughes on the clean room suits. If you'd turn it inside out you could see the heritage Hughes logo. Why you may ask? Cleanroom suits are expensive to replace.

The E labor grades were changed to G a few years ago and is nothing new. Everyone was notified of the change. Now RTX is coming up with a standard grade for the entire company (RTN, PW, Collins. Etc) along with new badges and logo on the buildings.

For all you people who say G rating change is nothing new or old news, I’m SO happy for you to know this but not all of us did. So if you feel the need to tell us you already know, just stop, refrain from it and shut the fu-k up. We didn’t, now we do.

The titles changed somewhere around 2015 for I believe two reasons:

1) For some reason someone thought it would be cool to have something Mimic the Government Service (GS) position levels.
2) There was a lot of information out there for the Heritage E levels where you could find out roughly where on the scale someone was for their pay grade. Meaning if you asked around enough you could get an idea of what everyone around you made. So, they switched that out to misalign everyone's understanding.

You can still find out. It now takes a little more work.

People are naive if they think can move the shells around and believe a company of engineers can't work it out.

New job codes/titles are as follows:

G06 -> P1
G07 -> P2
G08 and G09 were combined into P3
G10 -> P4
G11 -> P5

Where I'm at all salary bands were also lowered. Not a huge amount but, none the less, they were lowered as inflation rises. G09's really got hosed. Not only did they drop back with the G08 but the new P3 salary band is considerably lower than the old G09. Engineering Fellows are a whole different story..............

I’m glad you and the people you know where privy to that information but me and my coworkers and the entire building I work in had not been told anything and received no such email.

Actually, that other post is correct. The company did send out a global email weeks before, of their intentions to change titles...followed by all hands meetings to convey this...followed by providing us with a new job category catalog...followed by actually doing it in our "MyInfo" link...LOL. Come out of your cave once in a while and enjoy the sun. :-)

You must not work for Raytheon now or maybe you are an LMT employee. The G #'s above are old news!!! RTX has changed G #'s to another letter.

I had figured they would change them. I haven’t heard of anything official about it. I know some people who recently were hired on but they are doing the same job and have different titles. I suspect pay has been adjusted as well. As to be expected

I believe job titles and labor grades have been changed to be consistent throughout the new company. Just like the logo on the buildings and the badges.
