Thread regarding Conduent layoffs

I haven't noticed they’re trying to keep anyone

I really thought Conduent would try to somehow keep a colleague who was a star employee in the true sense of the word. It was an employee who could have left here a long time ago and earned much more somewhere else, but so far this company has been lucky that he hadn't done so.

However, from what he told me, when he gave notice that he was leaving, they did everything to make him feel totally replaceable, as if he had never even worked here. That's amazing to me.

Is it possible that they will do nothing to try to stop such great employees from leaving? It will be too late when this company realizes that cheap labor will not fix problems here.

Funny that the ceo hasn’t hesitated to pay his new recruits…

They did try to keep me when I gave my notice. My boss's boss said he couldn't approve what I asked for, which was nearly double what I was getting paid, since I was ready to leave and got a big jump from leaving anyway since I had basically no raises for years but increased responsibilities the entire time, also I was more than ready for something different.

I suspect that management would be willing to pay more, but they're put in a straitjacket by those above them. The higher-ups unwillingness to pay anyone what they're worth is going to continue the steady drain of good employees with lots of domain knowledge in their heads and make it harder and harder to meet the expectations of their clients.

My old department is a faint shadow of what it used to be, and would not have enough employees to handle new business if salespeople could even give it to them, they've lost so many people in the past year without replacement.

When you gave notice and got that reaction I'm sure it was a huge shock to you.
Good luck in your new position.
