This is the only company I’ve worked for where slackers are more valued than employees who give their best. The harder I worked, the harder it became because I kept getting even more work along the way, while the hardest part for the slackers was pretending to work. How do you keep the morale in such an environment? No way. That's probably the message of this company - that it's best to be just one of the pretenders here?

Bu-t kissers thrive here. If you aren’t a “yes” man/woman, you won’t last long anymore. Everyone is replaceable, don’t fool yourself.

If you are the best, your boss will be intimidated. If you are the worst, you should worry (the worst at Apache? Hahah!). To do well at Apache, you need to strive for mediocrity.

Right now it is just a game at this office. It’s called not being eaten by the bear. It does not matter how hard or fast you run at your office job. Yeah, if you’re a hard worker here, that doesn’t want to pack your nose full of it to move up, you’re getting rode hard to basically keep our bloated management structure, and the company afloat.
Think of it as the opposite of the iceberg analogy, instead of a small portion of the whole mass above water being supported by the majority below, the bulk of our mass is sitting uselessly above water, being supported by a smaller, and shrinking portion below. Eventually the thing will capsize.

Maybe you all are just stupid and it takes longer to do your work than it does for smarter workers to do theirs.
1000000% agree. Sadly we get to do all the work and the special ones get promoted, whom really didn't shine. Just hand picked brown nosers.... its no wonder all the younger people are leaving. With no prospects of advancement.
