Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

What's the deal at Proviso ramp?

Heard between rides quite a few more guys quit today. A manager, machinist and a electrician. Also heard they aren't gonna be the last between retirees and people fed up.

I hid out at Yard 9 for as long as I could, now I'm selling hot dogs at Gene and Jude's.

It's really not a shock to me and shouldn't be a shock to anyone. They closed the Butler shop, some thought that Proviso was next on the chopping block. If more people did quit, then there's more that'll probably follow suit and not just at that location either. This is the reality that the current management doesn't see or refuses to see. The management team is so convinced that this is the way it has to be to stay in business. The problem is that it never used to be that way. The UP didn't start as a bad company. If the UP doesn't change their ways, it'll end as one.
