Thread regarding Cengage layoffs

What would you tell an outsider thinking of applying for a remote position?

Is it worth it?
Is Cengage requiring the vaccine?
How are the benefits?
Do they provide equipment?

  1. Define "worth it" . . . early career, short-term expectations for a resume item? Sure, worth it. Anything else? Not.
  1. Why worry about vaccinations when one is remote? No requirement, tho.
  1. Benefits are average. And very expensive.
  1. What equipment? Ya, you will get what you need to get the job done. Will it be great quality and make working life easier? Meh, depends on role and the programs involved.

All in all, go in with very minimal expectations and you will have a good ride. For a while. Just discard any expectation of a career path or pay increases and you will be fine. For a while.

Literally, that's what the gig is here.
