Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Should an accident happen for them to realize what the situation is like?

The other day I almost made a serious mistake. The reason is that I'm too tired.

It is impossible for one person, no matter how skilled and experienced, to be so overwhelmed with work and not make a mistake at some point.

I decided to quit, and I just hope that UP will realize that it is not wise to let people be so overwhelmed - before some terrible mistake is made!

Some people did make a mistake, and it cost them their lives. So to answer your question is yes and no. The YES part is the accident that happens is when the UP takes notice of it. The NO part is when the UP takes notice of the accident, and blames the accident on the actual employee for not being fully rested or negligent work ethic. The UP will never except responsibility for dangerous work practices, especially when they can blame it on an employee. The only bright spot is that other entities outside of the company are in fact noticing problems with the company. Now if anything were to come of that still remains to be seen.

Yes. An accident with a lot of deaths will have to happen. And even if deaths happen, I'm not sure the railroads would care
