For @1mxq+1d24Q9Xm, I had to chuckle at "we're hitting goal, so we're good" comment. You must have joined in the last handful of years.
This current version of Cengage has been built on the backs of hundreds (literally) of reps who made goal regularly - eight, ten years straight - and found themselves out on their ear.
No joke, hitting goal is not going to save you if/when it comes time to cut headcount. They...don't...care...about... that...

Layoffs are good for morale. Rewarding those who have abided by the credo and cutting those whose values don’t align with our mission statement and shared cultural views keeps us strong and ensures unmitigated success moving forward in lock step.
I wouldn't connect what's happening at Gale very much with the rest of the company. Gale has been a disaster for well over a decade now. Reference publishing has been dying a slow death and the company has been shrinking into oblivion. With Cengage you can at least envision some sort of future where students and professors buy textbook content. With reference publishing there is no future. Cengage has been trying to sell Gale off for years with no luck whatsoever. It is just a matter now of managing the decline.
Well, I can I tell you about 90% of Inside Sales group here in Kentucky has hit goal so, we are pretty secure. Even those that didn't were new people so they should be okay. We are all looking at year end bonuses here. Gotta tell ya, felling pretty pumped!
It is possible, but I'm not 100% sure.
