At the end of the day the unskilled union crafts at UP make $5 more an hour than fast food workers.

So you are basically working 15 hours to pay your union dues.
All unions do is protect the worthless which makes it worse for everyone. The unions will stab you in the back like they did with the fireman, brakeman and now they're going to sell out the conductors. I'd rather be a scab than belong to a union.
Some railroad workers are underpaid, to be sure. I’ve never heard of 60/30 in the restaurant industry, though.
You could go into management and work mandatory unpaid leave, work 25 days in a row, and get yelled at on conference calls. That’s the smart choice
Why dont our unions ever aim higher? Anyone remember the SNL skit of Will Ferrell ‘fighting’ the x-mas kangaroo in australia? The way Will Farrell handles the kangaroo is how our unions negotiate with the railroads.
OK then go work at a fast food restaurant and be proud of it. In the end they still make more than the fast food worker!
Some fast good restaurants are paying as much as 19 per hour. How much do entry level track workers and carmen make? The person posting is more right than wrong on this.
A patently false and ignorant claim.
All my union has done is make sure the full time union employees dont have to sweat or succeed in order to keep their jobs. All my union does is insist it would be worse without them resisting but ultimately failing. They dont even pretend to try to make any improvements. All they do is insist it can get worse, they never attempt to think of aiming higher.
