I can’t help but notice that Oxy, unlike what it was a few years ago, is now a perfect setting for mediocrities. I have talked to some acquaintances in other companies in the industry and it turns out that Oxy is not unique in that regard, mediocrities are on the rise there as well.
However, I am most interested in the situation here and why does Oxy now increasingly tends to encourage mediocre employees?

You talked to some acquaintances? Sounds like a very thorough analysis. Must be accurate.
Just to set the record straight. There are plenty of high quality professionals still working for Oxy either because they didn’t take the VSPs over the past 6 years or they were not eligible. Don’t lump everyone into that mediocre category.
And by the way why is Oxy even hiring people now. They should be cutting back with all of the debt. Please don’t tell us that oil prices are high now so they need more people. Give me a break. They need the right new people not just the new mediocre people that you say they are hiring now. The right person can make more money than 10 poor to mediocre people.
Because mediocre is the only level of employee Oxy can get to work there.
