Like many others, I regretted ever accepting a job here. It is amazing what UP expects from employees and how little it gives us in return. I don’t believe there are many more companies with such expectations from an employees? Before I came here I worked for another railroad company, but I wasn’t nearly as overwhelmed as I am here.

Funny because the company believes you should give up your life outside of the job @1kjw. Completely controls when you can use the vacation time you earned and treats you like you inconvenienced them by using it. And if you or a family ever get sick has an archaic attendance policy that punishes you for taking care of yourself or them. Sounds like a vindictive and toxic marriage to me.
Everyday spent working for the railroad is a wasted day.
They give your your paycheck twice a month and your insurance. That’s all they are obligated to give you. You are obligated to work in return for these things. You aren’t married to UP and they aren’t married to you. This isn’t a personal relationship.
i got this job because i couldn't handle the pressure at carls jr. i like my managers and i'm glad they let me sleep at their house because i'm homeless and i like to eat soap. thanks and god bless.
This job is not for the weak at heart. Hang in there snow flake.
Well there's some people that expect you to believe that you should give it your best, regardless of conditions. The argument was that their paying you well and you agreed to it. My take on that is very simple. It's all BS. Yes, the company was paying me to do the job. The company WAS NOT paying me to put up with the constant threats or paying me to risk my safety or the safety of others just to get the trains moving. I don't regret getting a job there. I regret staying there for as long as I did.
Worst company ever. Get out asap.
