Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

How much do you hate your job at OXY right now, on a scale of 1 to 10?

Given the way the question was phrased, OP was trolling for a high number. Looks like the opposite is true.

@3znz+1cxnulUT: The reason is because management is waiting for August 2022 when the Change of Control expires. Then they can lay off LAPC employees with much cheaper packages.

A restructuring and lay-off is in order to simplify the organization. Why has management not executed this yet? We are two years into the acquisition and still the organization is a mess. You cannot blame it on covid.

Agree. I generally too like my job, compensation, some of my coworkers, and the company. Just ignore the caca about DIB, mandatory HSE courses that don't relate to your job, the debt-pile, the exhausting Reserves process, the DAC daydreaming, multiple-layers of do-nothing middle management, duplicity of functions (two land directors, 4 chiefs Petros, 2 Tech VPs etc), the Apache chiefs...

LOXY loves it, LAPC hates it. LAPA they reign. LXOM thinks they can fix it. LSHELL/Altura mostly retired.

Everyone seems mostly happy. So what is wrong with this company and why can they not make any money for the stockholders. Bring back the dividend VH.

I’d say “0”. I work with good people for good pay.

1 - when working from home. 10 - when working in the office.

2 or 3. I have minor irritations, but I generally like my job, my compensation, my coworkers, and the company.

@1cqg+1cxnulUT I would go back to the office the normal schedule easily if it meant we never had to deal with Covid again. Many of us have lost friends, relatives, or know of someone that has suffered or continue to suffer from Covid. WFH was put in place to protect us, and I appreciate that fact.

Great attitude. Keep it up when they pull back on the work from home. We need people like you.

1 for me. Works well and allows me to provide for my family. Have some great managers as well. Work from home two days a week and every other Friday off. Not sure how anyone would not see that as a huge benefit. Add in the fact that Oxy has us working from home during the uptick in the Delta variant and how can anyone really complain with the basics.

I absolutely love my job, just h8 the fact I have to work with family every day. They really grind my gears.

One. I like OXY’s vision, and I love what I do. The BWP schedule is the cherry on top. Very hard to find an oil company with a better schedule. And the compensation is outstanding.

Love the paycheck and will stay as long as they keep coming. Isn’t that the point of working?

Will you still like it when they take the wfh away?

Love my job, love the people I work with, and love the new Work Schedule. T-W-Th at office is ideal for most. We’ve come a long way since acquisition; higher oil prices will only make our share price go higher and employees will see the rewards.

It was much better when they didn’t try so hard to sell themselves to new employees and the local community. This is when they kept a low profile, had mostly very experienced employees, and just worried about making money and growing the business.

I’m outright disgusted by the company. I will leave when I am set up to leave. We celebrate the things that don’t matter and ignore the things that do. The company pumps itself up to be the best, but the reality is that it reeks of mediocrity.
