Busy week for poor quality at Ford. Continuing to delete the value in the Ford brand. Why would anyone buy a vehicle from us, the Recall Kings of the industry.
Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2021 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator models due to defective side air bag attachment weld studs.
The defect: in affected vehicles, the side air bag attachment weld studs could detach during the deployment of the side air bag, resulting in an improper deployment. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 214, “Side Impact Protection.”
The hazards: in affected vehicles, the side airbag attachment stud may detach during a deployment preventing the side airbag from fully inflating or positioning correctly. If the side airbag does not fully inflate or position correctly, it may increase the risk of injury in a crash that initiates a side airbag deployment.
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.
Components: side airbag attachment stud.
Affected vehicles: select 2021 Ford Explorer models produced at the Ford Chicago Assembly Plant between October 9th, 2020 – June 7th, 2021, and 2021 Lincoln Aviator models produced at the Chicago Assembly Plant from February 25th, 2021 – March 12th, 2021.
