Can someone (maybe an A.P. reading this?) explain why when we report a regular shoplifter, SOOO regular that we actually have nicknames for them! That they do NUTH’N! We have a lady who for a couple of years now comes in 30 minutes before close and loads up. I reported it, sent in a official description soooo many times. The traveling A.P. crew was actually in our store and was like, yeah, we saw her. Reeeeally, you saw her load up and walk out, AGAIN,
why do I bother, why should I care?

AP is there for internal theft Far more losses internally.
no what they do is follow you around the store and stand 6 feet from you and just watch you making a shopping experience a nightmare
They cannot currently psychically touch a shoplifter. Used to before but right now Macy’s does not allow it.
Some of these shoplifters have mental illnesses so AP let’s them go. We have a homeless man that comes to our store and he’s not right in the head. Any time he shoplifts, they will catch him and just let him go. But I’ve seen many instances of our AP apprehending shoplifters and taking them to the back and waiting for the police to come and get them. It depends on the circumstances and the laws in your state. I saw in the news about the Walgreens in San Francisco and how shoplifters are rampant there and they were even forced to close some of their stores there because of the amount of shoplifting. And it’s all because they downgraded shoplifting to a misdemeanor from a felony.
Could it be that shoplifting laws have become so lenient in many states, (I'll let you guess the reason) that the Police don't come out unless the dollar value is high enough to constitute a felony? So maybe AP just has a running tab.
