Hot Rot 2021 F-150’s on sale!

What customer doesn’t recognize that Ford is now stuck with +50k F-150’s that have been baking in the sun for months waiting on chips at MY change. Going to take more than this veiled effort to get these rusting parking lot queens sold. No incentives needed to sell GM or Ram. Another “win” for Ford management.

During August 2021, a Ford F-150 discount combines a low-interest finance offer with a $2,500 trade assist bonus for the all-new, 14th-generation F-150. However, the offer is only available in select markets.

An additional $1,000 cashback incentive is available for retail orders placed by a certain date, and can be added to all public offers, increasing the total cash allowance to $3,500 when combined with the featured incentive mentioned above.

The incentives are part of FoMoCo’s strategy to ramp up incentives in the midst of a major inventory shortage. As previously reported by Ford Authority, The Blue Oval appears to no longer be offering discounts for the last-, 13th-generation 2020 F-150.

Fortunately for Ford, there is pent up demand for trucks. The dealers in my area (not Michigan) are selling 3 year old used F-150s with 50,000 miles for more than the original MSRP. They will have no problem moving 50,000 F-150s with the incentives cited. For Ford, it is better to be lucky than good.

It’s not just F-150s, there are plenty of parked Rangers, too. I don’t see how they can be sold without major discounts, just having the tires rotting in 90 degree weather for several months is going to have the new owner buying a new set before they should have had to. Not to mention rodents eating wiring. It’s not only a Ford problem, but our problem seems to be bigger than the others’, judging by what I see in various parking lots around town.

I get the gas price argument but would not that affect everyone in a same way?

My brother in So Cal just delayed the purchase as the gas is approaching $5/gallon. I think we'll see even higher prices soon.

How do we move so many 2021’s after MY change? Guessing, like other years, they will be deeply discounted to get the off hold lots and on dealer showrooms. There is always the Avis/Hertz/National wholesale option. So much for 3Q profitability.
