Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Not sure if it’s true but I think Eddie is calling it quits in November.

Does anyone from within the company know if this information is true or not? If it is it will be a sad ending for these two iconic retailers. Is it possibly that Eddie Lampert is inching towards retirement?

He’s not quitting or retiring, he’s transforming the company from retail to real estate, just as he has been doing since he purchased the company early last year.

He's already retired from developing the retail businesses. His main concern now is just building up his personal funds for eventual full retirement from business and public life. And he's been very successful over the past several years, increasing his personal net worth by a $billion. It's named "TransformCo" because Eddie is transforming property and other Sears/Kmart assets into more money in his own pocket.

This post makes no sense at all. Why would Eddie “quit” his own company? If you decide you no longer wish to be in a particular aspect of business (such as retail in this case) you either sell it off or liquidate and close it.

The condition of stores and and reviews on sites like BBB show Eddie quit on Sears and Kmart as a national retailer a long time ago.

Whether he quits on whatever scheme he's using it for now by the end of the year remains to be determined.

Another rumor of the demise of Sears/Kmart, I guess that means it's a new day today, or maybe it's Groundhog day, and I'm living this same sh*t over and over and over and over... and over and over and over and over!

Kenmore's target audience is showing up in droves in the obituary pages. Their kids and grand kids have never bought a Kenmore appliance and if they did, they regretted it. The name is worthless except as another name on Chinese sh-t like Polaroid or Magnavox.

I doubt it unless he has a buyer lined up for Kenmore an the Guam Kmart. Kenmore still has some value and that kmart is a big money maker.
