Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Got my 45 day layoff notice

Severance ain't too bad, even if you don't sign.

Given my involuntary exit, still don't feel any goodwill.

Start a dumpster fire on the way out???

Laptop is a brick. They shut it down. Phone - I ported number, plugged in sim card and still using.
Off boarding was a well oiled machine just like all the other broken processes at Shell. lol

Company laptop got a password on uefi (bios). Pretty tough to use it without this password.

@4llr What becomes of the company laptop and phone when they aren’t returned? Does the company wipe them or block access remotely, or can you just continue using both?

Asking for a friend.

The severance doesn’t pay out till you leave. They hold it hostage for your last few days of “performance”.

When I left they gave me nothing to to do for the six months leading up to last day in office (working from home COVID) and then three months paid with full benefits to termination date and severance payout. What a retirement gift.

I don't believe they hold you hostage for performance. In fact my termination letter said severance would be with held if I didn't return company property. (phone, laptop, corporate credit card, access/ID card) I still have that junk since there was no one left to give it to and cashed the severance already.

If you're not working from home, start "working" from home and look for a new job. That is your biggest priority right now. Don't do any more work and don't train anybody for your job. You have been clocked out.

I’m not sure you can start a dumpster fire since the severance doesn’t pay out till you leave. They hold it hostage for your last few days of “performance”.

BUT, if I were you my work ethic would be checked out and I’d do the bare minimum to keep the job, look for another job and even start an another job during these 45 days.
