Thread regarding Manulife Financial Corp. layoffs

Third round of layoffs this year

After telling us that there will be no layoffs due to covid, there have have been 3 rounds this year already (not counting all the layoffs from 2020). This last round removed the last 2 batches of hires, going back 2 years. But don't worry, they're sending all these Canadian jobs overseas! In the middle of a pandemic, this trash company is cutting jobs and outsourcing. This was done regardless of performance, and in an insensitive manner. Not only that, those who are laid off are expected to work till October 1st and even train their replacements! Absolutely disgusting and filthy behaviour.

For those still around and excited for those 2022 extra personal days, take as early as possible, so not cheated when you get let go.

Why is everything so secretive?

Most days it feels like being let go is a better option than staying at Manulife. Seems like a sinking ship!

These layoffs are in poor taste. Wonder if they'll pay a dividend to their shareholders with the savings. Now we know why all the office space was trimmed...to prepare for downsizing across canada and us, while moving even more jobs to 3rd world countries.

What shareholder value? Look at the MFC stock price from the last 10 years.

Manulife is about shareholder value, not employee value or worth. Listen to the town halls and you will hear the words shareholder value consistently.

It's a fu----g race to the bottom. Any idea on the teams impacted in this latest round?

Absolutely despicable & disgusting behaviour of senior management. The staff is already overwhelmed & stretched with heavy workload. Yet, the latest round was shocking as incredibly competent & hard working employees laid off only to transfer it later overseas. What a shame!

Really awful behaviour on the part of management. Employees work so hard, put in countless hours of unpaid over time to meet business demand and satisfy “company goals” and in the end they get tossed out like it’s nothing. How about they cut some of the salaries from senior management instead of firing hardworking employees keeping their business alive in a pandemic?
