Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Why would Schenectady have a layoff call people back

To Just to lay them off again? I’ve been hearing rumors anywhere’s from 80-150 layoffs/permanent job cuts.

Great Speculation that Building 66 is going to be shut down and sent overseas and the rest of the job losses will be out of 273. How much truth is there to this?

Now I know why so many turned down coming back. I was one of the gullible ones who made the mistake to come back. This place is so full of unskilled egotistical workers who have all the answers and no skill set.

Just look at the union we pay dues for what? We show up to be lead by engineers and ops leader who don’t have a clue. They read some methods and think they have a clue. In reality they mess up the process by giving misdirection.

The company has laid out the tools for Failure and now along with me there will be permanent job losses in Schenectady. The union is suppose to provide job security, great wages, great retirement and job safety.

How many Permanent job losses will there be? Anyone hearing similar things around?
Thanks
And Good Luck

"The blades made in 66 are garbage! From the nit wits making wax forms to final inspectors, the product is gonna fail badly! That's why the G M left, saw the writing on the wall. Anymore misplaced blades need to be found?"

The GM was forced to leave! Maybe had he taken the harassment training like the rest of us, there would be more staff still there! The blades made in 66 are only made in 66, no one else has been able to make such! The id--t engineer who "miss-placed" the blade, to the outsourced business, left because of the over paid, ignorant, egotistical GM, who has since left! Most of these posts are made by folks like the incompetent union officials, and the id--ts that elect them. Most wouldn't know opportunity if it kicked them in the nuts! Keep trying to push BS work like Wind and Ventilators, most of our mo--ns don't know how to push a broom, that work wont ever land in Schenectady. But maybe if we get just a few more working at National and elected into Schenectady local hall jobs, we can keep the illegal dream going.

When you are afforded someone else’s job from another plant, it’s a matter of time before yours will be shipped out to another. Karma bites.

Only speaking of building 66, the core process is only made here in Schenectady. The casting process to date can only be done here. The vendor/competitor for these products has not in 3 yrs been able to produce blades to be qualified to do so as building 66 has. There is worked signed for in the book thru 2023, the opportunity for much more than that. Rumors will never die, thats for sure. The slug mentality of fellow 301 workers and union officials will only last so long as well. Many things have been done wrong, for many years by both GE and 301, but as those get weeded out, the open minded mentality will take over. GE Schenectady will never, ever be what it once was, nor will the jobs, thats modern day reality. As the slugs get weeded out, more will see the reality. There is the opportunity for production to scale way up for the cores and casting business, part of ops to be put into 273, to take up the useless empty space. Doing this for many more jobs than the 12-14 for wind turbine dreams would be much more valuable, if only blinded eyes could see clearly. 301 needs to stop listening to the old school slugs and start using the modern worker mentality, they will surely see the benefits quickly. There are cuts coming this fall to 301, ya cant pay people to do nothing for long when in business, sad part is GE could shed legit dead weight, but, by contract language has them pushing out workers, for deadbeats to stay, sad reality of how unions have destroyed the modern day workforce.

It's been this way with GE for years, and won't change any time soon. The smart ones have used the companies dime to further their education or learn a trade to make themselves more valuable to their next employer. Its not if, but when the layoffs will come when you work for GE.
