Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Yo Billy, you need to close the gap between the stated Ford Truths/Values and the Practiced Truths/Values

Or just be honest about the practiced company values, at least then people would respect you for being honest.

Ford stated truths

  • Play to Win
  • Do the right thing
  • Put people first
  • One Ford
  • Be curious
  • Built Ford Tough
  • Create Tomorrow

Ford practiced truths

  • Cheat, then Lawyer up
  • Do whatever you think you can get away with
  • Put your own interests first, followed by the stock holders interests
  • Sabotage other groups, backstab your coworkers
  • Do only what you are told to do. Keep your mouth shut and your mind closed.
  • Slap cr-p together, polish the exterior, ignore and coverup problems.
  • Chase quarterly numbers, crush the soul of the company

Much truth in the post. Where is the over site into the companies behavior? BOD?
Has anyone looked at BOD composition recently? It is primarily VC and finance (I.e. Goldman Sachs). There is zero expertise on running a company that manufactures anything. There is zero expertise on global supply chains. Etc. What’s up with that? Oh sure the two Ford children are on the board as well as Bill Ford and Farley (if you want to count them).

Now it has been a minute since I took business classes but I do remember being taught that an effective BOD would NOT have any individuals who are employed by the organization. Employees of the company who sat on the board would have the temptation to steer BOD in ways that benefitted themselves personally. In addition, valuable outside viewpoints and oversight would be lost.
The BOD is tasked with setting strategic direction and communicating that direction to CEO, yet the Ford CEO is on the BOD.
In business classes we were taught that a BOD may be held personally liable for the actions of the organization, wonder how that will play out for the age discrimination they allegedly directed.

Makes you go Hmmmm

This post hit the nail dead center. Anytime Bill opens his mouth he looks like the puppet from the movie "MAJIC". The guy has zero KARMA. He is boring and by reading his body language I don't think he even beliefs the BS coming out of his mouth. I started to hear fellow coworkers talking about the articles regarding the discrimination against older workers and how the BOD knew about this. Anytime any of those top level Executives talk I wan to start laughing. If F-series does not regain lost sales after this chip thing I do no think the company will survive. 90+% of profits come from one vehicle line.

The truth is:

SRD is a management friend and family plan - it eliminated the voice of the second opinion in the organization. The perception of 2nd opinion is that it must be from people who are unhappy. After SDR, the remaining people who suffer most are the people below the eliminated SDR. They lost the opportunity to evaluate different options.

Not all managers are stupid. But there are many management positions occupied by people who are smart but not capable. This is a deadly combination together with SDR.

How un-capable management dealt with their deficiency is part through external consultants. Consultants, with some credibility on the paper, justified what the smart management thinks what they need to do. Consultants must keep the management happy and do what the management want or risk the lost of the next job. Consultants are smart too. Numerous "opportunities" were identified. But the whole thing repeats.

Why this whole thing keeps repeating every 4-6 years without anyone bearing the consequences? The smart management always move to a different job frequently before the market performance data show up. No one can catch up with them. "I am new to this position. This project started before me." is always the right answer.

With the huge amount of available resources, anyone would had expected lot more accomplishments from this company than the actual. This is THE truth.

Please let there be a rouge disgruntled employee that polishes these tu-d leaders and slip it into a Ford- (minus) meeting deck. The peasants would rejoyce.
