Ford continues its brazen age discrimination even while fighting getting caught with the SRD and court fight. Hiring managers are being told straight out by HR to not consider any applicant candidate over a certain age regardless of qualifications. Even if it means having to hire a dramatically less qualified candidate. That what is in the best interest of the role or the company is not to be considered. Opportunity in all situations must be given to the younger employee at all costs.....Could Ford be any more arrogant.

The age discrimination has been occurring at least since 2000.
Since 2000 many coworkers were denied lateral moves once they were 50+ despite being the best candidate for job. In most cases an unqualified person was given a promotion to fill the LL6/LL5 the lateral slot they were applying for. So not only did the company not get the best candidate they also increased salary costs to Ford. Invariably the unqualified candidate immediately doubled his/her staff size because they could not do the job they were promoted to do (so clearly they needed more staff). Then within a few years the incompetent person was promoted again, because they were managing so many people.
Don’t let the POC initiative fool you. As with any other initiative it is just for show.
Examples of past initiatives
- we hired diversity en masse from Howard University, and then quietly ensured that they were slotted into go nowhere jobs until they left on their own or were actioned out.
- We mass promoted females and then quietly ensured that they also were slotted into go nowhere jobs, same fate as diversity hires.
- we had project Renaissance in 2001 to bring in experienced hires who could actually be productive day one. 80% left on their own within 2 years because of resistance of existing employees to actually do work, and quite frankly the existing employees bullied and harassed the new comers out of fear (as the new comers actually knew how to do their jobs)
The Ford culture is a long lived and storied culture. It is high school clique mentality where the mean boys and girls rule. If Bill Ford really wanted it to change, it would of changed 30 years ago.
In addition, the term “equity balancing” has been thrown around recently in terms of promotional opportunities. So we are going to give all promotions to POC to meet a quota? Good luck anyone who is older and white getting any promotion even if you are best for the job. Im also hearing that during interviews for promotions that there has to be a “diversity interviewer” on the panel. This is all so ridiculous. Just pick the best person for the job regardless of age, s-x, race etc.
