Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

The Gervais Principle- This is Shell

Ran into a blogpost called The Gervais Principle on a blog called Ribbon Farm.

It breaks down how a company, as it gets bigger essentially becomes a hierarchy of Psychopaths, Clueless and Losers.

I’m definitely Clueless/Loser. I’ve wondered talking to some of the higher ups, if they are narcissistic/had “issues”. Got Patrick Bateman vibes.

If I leave, definitely hoping work for a mom and pop company.

Oil & gas has been unique in that for 150 years it has a monopoly on energy, but things are changing and every big company ultimately fails. Jeff Bezos said, "Amazon will go bankrupt. If you look at large companies, their lifespans tend to be 30-plus years, not a hundred-plus years,"

Shell will fail. Doesn't mean you can't kiss a-s and milk it while you can, but the company is like Rome before it fell, too focused on things that don't matter.
