ITO is heavily skewed to old white male with pension, which is the demographic that leadership wants to trim.
Maybe, but the only consideration that is even slightly reasonable is the pension eligible for controlling future costs. Problem is that this group will tend to be older to "old" since pensions stopped being offered 17 years ago. That's means if this was their first job right out of college they're at least 38. I'd guess that in actuality that most are going to be Gen X that came in after "Ford 2000", so mid 40's - mid 50's. There are additional protections for workers once they hit 55, so I can see why right now is the time that management would want to target the youngest of the pension eligible.
It should need to be said, but race should not be a factor. The goal should be to make sure that any incompetent or lazy workers are not protected, especially if they are of the majority race.
ITO has a mission to shift as much work to Ford of India as possible.
That's it right there! The current batch of managers probably remember what a flop offshoring was in the 2000-2006 time frame, and then the next cycle in the 2010-2015 frame, and for some reason think they can be successful this time. Sure seems like the ultimate goal is to be an Indian rather than American company.
ITO management is horrible.... projects fail because the staff is full of loafers and con artists
Can't argue with that!
silos of incompetency all hiding behind bureaucracy to coverup their incompetency.
Perfect description of certain teams I've dealt with in ITO. It's unfortunate that the teams who actually do their job well don't get noticed since things run smooth.
So glad the VSSP extended to ITO. Ford should outsource the entire organization.
Good to try to clear house but I say we would be better off striving to build a top-notch IT org rather than be subject to the increasing incompetence of providers such as IBM & HPE.
