Don't think Boeings going to ever offer VLO's again and that may be true with Involuntary Layoffs too. Either layoff option costs Boeing money. Because everyone knows Boeing don't like spending their own money. Look what happened when Boeing went the cheap option on 737 instead of spending more on a new airplane design. Next time Boeing needs to cut headcount they will do it issuing Termination notices with the help from sleezy Boeing managers an especially Boeing HR.
Most of the older workers who are eligible for VLO have already taken it. You can complain about the older workers all you want, but in five years almost all of them will be retired.
As much as the company complains about older workers the truth is a lot of people with 30 years experience had a lot of expertise they took with them that was never passed on to younger workers.
If you don’t think that matters, look at how Charleston did with new young workers. They had serious quality issues and trouble making rate.
It’s just another mistake in a long line of mismanagement decisions. Asking all your older workers to retire without having the next generation prepared is management 101.
Ha! Those old lazy old timers who do nothing but watch the clock and back in 2012 they voted to stop pensions for new hires.
Would love the opportunity to vote them out on the next contract.
In order to get a weak contract passed it would benefit Boeing to VLO as many old timers as possible. The new generation of workers will sign any contract and take whatever they get.
Intelligence is not his strong suet, so back to pounding rivets
Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before.
Relax said the Nightman,
We are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave.....
You're TRAPPED !!! Boeing only offers VLO's in the initial phase of a declared layoff cycle then follows that up with ILO's only. Since they announced in late July that layoffs would be temporarily suspended your only option is to wait for them to resume ILO's, wait for the next declared downsizing in a few years or QUIT. The VLO ship has sailed for now leaving you on the dock waving Aloha !!!
This has to be Boeing Management trying to dilute Boeing’s horrible news
Such threads have all the signs Μental Μidgets, hence Boeing Management
As Boeing Continues to Deteriorate
Due to incompetent Management and a sub standard work force
Boeing can only hope to maintain its number two ranking on the world stage
For Now

As long as Boeing is producing commercial aircraft there will be buyers.
If for no other reason, Airbus cannot keep up with future demand.
In other words Boeing is still in business by default.
Other reasons such as the fleet legacy’s concerns of maintenance,
pilot training, and pilot availability (Pilots Trained in that Aircraft Type)
will continue to drive sales moving forward.
But Make No Mistake
Airbus is now the number one commercial aircraft company in the world.
Through customer service and quality, Airbus has earned that title.
While Boeing’s Board, Consumed with avarice greed continues to stumble
Shepherding the company with incompetence and a contempt of humanity
Boeing has earned the number two spot on the world stage.
And, is only holding that number two spot because there is no other
aircraft manufacturing companies with global reach, at this time…
Expect More Layoffs:
