Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Working overnight

I am interested in the experiences of people who work overnight because I am thinking that it would be more suitable for me to work overnight. The day shift no longer suits me for some private reasons. Is it too strenuous? Is it much worse than a day shift? Any details you can give me are welcome.

Overnight work is less stressful because of less interaction with other people, but is very physical in nature as you will be unloading trucks, moving freight to the floor, and putting merchandise on the shelves and in top stock. You won’t need a gym membership and you will need to be a good day sleeper.

There is no overnight differential. The overnight crew at our store makes the same sh1t wage the morning and afternoon people make and have brought this to management's attention multiple times. Most have left and nobody will work that shift now.

Tl;dr: don't work overnights at Lowe's. You will be giving up your family for píss pay, no help, and an overbearing workload.

You don't want to work overnight, they shut off the a/c, so hot in store and make you do whatever then need. You will sleep all day and not see your family and friends

The overnight differential is significant.

To quote Men in Black, " Give it a few months. You'll get used to it... or you'll have a psychotic episode."
I have know coworkers that spent decades on the night shift and they loved it. I worked with others that hated it.
In general you will be expected to get more done with little to no management direction.
It is a significate life style change. If you are in a relationship , your partner/family has to back you 100% or your life will fall apart in a hurry.
If you decide to go that route give it a month or two for your body and mind reset to that life style.
