Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

It really is that bad

I’m sure many view this board and wonder if things are really that bad here. Unfortunately, they are.

The smoke and mirrors analogy is accurate. Nearly all customers are either leaving or moving to the cloud with heavy erosion. Of course Cloud ARR is growing, but top line revenue is shrinking in the hottest cloud market ever. There are not enough new customers (if any) to offset the cancellations and erosions.

The roadmap is nonexistent. The analogy of a map without the ‘you are here’ star was perfect. Blindly telling customers to ‘come with us to the cloud’ is as in depth as our pitch goes.

The leaders are lost. Nearly all of them. Most are smart enough to understand the above points and are milking the cow dry. The Board could not care less about the current state, and HR is in complete disarray and worthless. There is nowhere to turn for help.

The best employees are leaving. The only ones staying are either circling a retirement date, actively searching, or not smart enough to see the ship sinking.

I could keep going, but yes it really is that bad, and there is no leadership or vision in place to bail us out.

There's a reason why out of all lay off pages, this one stays active and alive. I'm glad it's here, people need to know what happens internally since HR doesn't listen to us.

This is because Sales are order takers, not sales people. And Sales thinks they should drive product planning. Engineering doesn't want to hear it, they know whatever they build will be better than apple pie and a new toaster. Customer feedback, who needs it, they will run to buy the new shiny better hybrid cloud solution. Best of Luck. When management figures out how to force sales to sell what they have instead of pipe dreams (from the opium den), then the company will turn around. The problem is sales is paid to much salary and commissions are to low. Remove their salaries and offer them 30% if the margin and they will hustle (or leave).

Couldn't have agreed more. Perfectly articulated. I've been here over 7 years and seen enough to validate it. ELTs have changed all too often, and they all toe the same line, just using different words. No one really knows how to bring the company out of the mess, or drive radical growth and transformation. I highly doubt the stock will touch 60. South is the only direction.
Engineering doesn't know why the stuff they're building isn't going into hands of customers.
Marketing doesn't know why Engineering isn't building better products to sell. Product Management? Jokers.
Everyone else is standing on the sidelines.
